What did it take to create a Jewish state? How has Israel maintained it since 1948?
We will look at the ideology underlying the movement for the creation of a Jewish state and
the manifestations of that ideology as represented by the Nakba, by Israel's ongoing campaigns
of oppression and dispossession aimed at its own Palestinian citizens and the Palestinians living in
the Israeli-occupied the West Bank, East Jerusalem and Gaza Strip, and by Israel's refusal to
recognize the right to return of, and provide compensation for, members of the Palestinian diaspora.
